Why do you drink coffee & What started your coffee drinking addiction?

Scott asked:

I’m just looking for some stories and opinions. I’m sitting here drinking one of the best cups of coffee on the planet, and I’d like to hear from some of you. :o )

I started drinking it when I was a kid. I didn’t care for the taste but it was something only the grownups could do. Years later I found myself addicted to Barnies latte’s until they got bought out by Starbucks. I’ve been drinking coffee almost everyday for the past 2 years know, and I don’t know how I could life without it.

When I was 18, I got a job at a 24-hour restaurant and worked the overnight shift so I could go to school during the day. Most of my customers were either drunks or cops, and although they were entertaining, I had to start drinking coffee to get used to staying up all night, then going to school all day.

Somehow, I started enjoying the taste, and now I have four or five cups a day.

I started drinking coffee when I was a kid to stay awake. I have always loved it. My grandparents drank it and anything they did I thought was great. I never leave home without a cup of coffee in my hand.

I started drinking coffee at the same time I picked up smoking. It became a social thing – bottomless cup of coffee, a pack of smokes, and great conversation with friends.

I’m definitely addicted. My dad kicked caffeine but said it was easier to quit smoking. I haven’t done either yet.

I didn’t touch coffee until I was in my early 20s. When I got stationed
on an icebreaker and spent half the year underway, either transiting
to or operating in the Antarctic, life on a ship had a much different
routine than I was used to. We used to have two of the big 100-cup
urns on the Mess Deck, and that coffee was all that stood between being
alert on watch in the middle of nowhere and utter and complete
    exhaustion.

Once I got the taste for coffee, I started to look for something better
than the pre-ground, canned stuff in the stores. There were very
few “boutique” roasters back in the mid-80s, but they were around
    if you looked.

Now, I have a couple of roasters I buy from, and I have some decent
coffee machines at home and our weekend house up in PA. If
you’re looking for the ideal cup of coffee, and you don’t want to spend
a ton of money on a good superautomatic, check out the Saeco Magic
Comfort Plus, or if you can find one, a refurb’ed Saeco Magic Deluxe.
My Magic Deluxe is almost 10 years old, and my Comfort Plus is
six. They still produce the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had outside
some of the coffee shops in Brazil and Italy.

I’m currently sipping a cup from my Comfort Plus, brewed from
Tanzanian Peaberry from Marie’s General Bean. Nothing like a snow
    day in DC.

I started with my friends and when going out on coffee shops.I wasn’t addicted like 1 in a two weeks. In 2007 I drank every single day.It was all about coffee.Older friend of mine teached me how to enjoy it and it to become a part of my life. But now I don’t like coffee much.
Imagine hahah I haven’t drank with months ,I guess I am bored of its taste .
What ‘all or nothing’ of person that makes me :)
